CFR v. Padilla

In California a group of people have filed a complaint to challenge the Secretary of State regarding their representation by Senators and Representatives.  California has 80 Representatives and 40 Senators – a number that has remained stagnant even though the population has grown exponentially.  They raise the question of “voter dilution” and how over a period of time it has become increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to actually have contact with those who have been elected to represent the people.  This poses an interesting question as to whether or not they are even capable of doing what they were elected for when they represent 500,000, and almost 1,000,000 constituents respectively.  A case to follow for sure as this issue affects more than just the citizens of California.

We are going to post all the filings in this case as they happen –
